The Military Heritage Amsterdam Foundation (MEGA Foundation after the Dutch acronym) was founded in 2004 to promote research and publications about the former military infrastructures in de Amsterdam region.

Amsterdam, as a major trading city and capital, was protected by a citywall since the 15th century. Later by several lines of defence consisting of earthworks.
The last line, with concrete buildings, is mostly intact: the Defence Line of Amsterdam. Its defensive works are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Our foundation also does research on the German bunkers and Cold War shelters and bunkers.
